At the South San Francisco Conference Center on Saturday, writer Davidson L. Haworth joined the inaugural Kraken Con as the exclusive fiction writer among a dozen special guests including voice actors and honored guests Jessica Dicicco and Chris Sabat.
Mr. Haworth is the author of the historical fantasy series The Prali Triology: The Dragon of Prali, The Wizard of Prali, and The Vampires of Prali.
“It’s great to be here because Kraken Con is so different compared to other conventions especially in the San Francisco Bay Area,” commented Mr. Haworth to the Stockton Day Trips Examiner. As the novelist autographed copies of his books and posed for pictures with fans he continued, “We had Wonder Con that moved down south and it left a hole to be filled. And Kraken Con helps fill that void of people wanting to attend a convention and participate in Cosplay. ”
Mr. Haworth reasoned how he may be one of the only novelists to attend pop culture conventions like Kraken Con. “It’s unconventional to do conventions for writers,” he says alluding to the popular bookstore platform that authors tend to use.
Mr. Haworth foresees that as more bookstores close, more writers may choose to attend conventions like Kraken Con to increase exposure of their written works.
The Kraken Con was just one stop on The Vampires of Prali international book tour. Earlier in the year, the book tour included several visits throughout the Ukraine at Euro Con, University of Kyiv, and Kyiv Alumni Resource Center. More recently and closer to home, the book tour made stops at Stockton Con, Santa Rosa Toy Con, and San Jose’s Big Wow Comic Fest.
Future The Vampires of Prali book tour dates
- Convolution in Burlingame from Nov. 1-3, 2013
- Wizard Con in Sacramento from Mar. 7-9, 2014
