Prairie Meadows in Altoona announced today that The Charlie Daniels Band and Kool & The Gang will be playing shows at the casino in April. Here are the details.
On April 18, soul/funk/R&B group Kool & The Gang will play Prairie Meadows at 8 p.m. The New Jersey group has collected two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, twenty-five Top Ten R&B hits (including nine #1 singles), nine Top Ten Pop hits, and thirty-one gold and platinum albums over their 50 years together. The band is probably best known for their enduring hits "Celebrate", "Cherish", and "Ladies Night". Tickets for the show will go on sale on March 4 through Ticketmaster for $45, $55, or $65 (plus taxes and fees).
The Charlie Daniels Band will play the casino the following night at 8 p.m. Charlie Daniels is a country music icon. He has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, named a BMI Music Icon, inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, and won countless other awards. Daniels' Grammy-winning hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" (featured in the nearby video) is one country music's most enduring songs. Tickets for the April 19 show are $35, $45, or $55 through Ticketmaster when they go on sale on March 4.
