Ahmad Brooks practiced on Friday for the first time this week with a black non-contact jersey on. Earlier in the day, Jim Harbaugh talked about his importance to the team and how his skills have fit the 49ers well.
"He's played at a really high level," said Harbaugh. "His opportunity to be an every-down player this year and last year, well-documented the season he had last year. This year, he's been fantastic."
Brooks failed to record a tackle against the Atlanta Falcons, but had two important plays where he broke up passes. He and NaVorro Bowman have been the solid linebackers in coverage throughout this year.
"Both guys played out very good [against the Falcons,]" said Vic Fangio. "It was a big batted pass by Ahmad [Brooks] on the third down. It was a big play by him on the second down when he hit the quarterback."
TE Garrett Celek (foot) was the only 49er who was unable to practice. He hasn't been able to attend practice all week.
