Images are the lifeblood of professional photographers, and for amateur shooters, they represent a snapshot of a memorable occasion or event that will be treasured for years to come.
Both professional and the casual photographer should have an understanding of copyright protection, so the Professional Photographers of America, or the PPA are offering a free copyright kit to everyone.
With roots dating back to 1869 and over 26,000 members across the nation, the PPA is all about protecting individual's rights.
They know that copyright infringement is a big problem. The PPA is here to educate and provide a kit to all photographers whether they are a member of the PPA or not.
“We want to be sure that not only our members, but photographers everywhere and even consumers of images understand the copyright laws,” states Maria Matthews, manager of PPA’s copyright and government affairs department. “There’s a common misperception about image ownership, and the copyright kit will help everyone avoid venturing into illegal territory.
PPA’s free copyright kit for all photographers is available for download at ppa.com/freecopyrightkit.
A copyright describes the rights given to content creators for their literary and artistic works. Photographers works should be protected with a copyright, the moment the image is taken. The free kit includes copyright registration guides and some sample licenses and model releases for photographers to use.
