The best tennis players in the world are about to descend on Mason, Ohio for one of the most important tennis tournaments in the world. So, it only appropriate that Cincinnati-based telecommunications company, Powernet, with more than 20 years of telecom experience was names the official Wi-Fi provider of the Western & Southern Open.
The Western & Southern Open will take place August 9-17 in Mason.
During the tournament, the free and open WI-Fi will span the food court and the hospitality center areas of the Linder Family Tennis Center.
"This is one of the most highly attended sporting events in the Midwest," says Allison Stevens, Powernet CEO. "I can't think of a better place to showcase our Wi-Fi solution and what we as a company are capable of, not to mention we're providing a service anyone who's been to a sporting event can certainly appreciate."
Powernet will also have a station right next to the outdoor broadcast studio where the Tennis Channel and ESPN2 coverage will originate from the entire week. The unique setup, which is next to the Grandstand Court, will offer fans access to tablets to check the scores and stats of messages or to surf the web.
Powernet has been busy.
"It's been a busy few months for sure, but the opportunity to work so closely with such a prestigious event and contribute to the fan experience in such a big way is something our whole team is excited about," Stevens says.
The Western & Southern Open will be the first tennis tournament sponsored by Powernet. It's a relationship Stevens hopes to continue.
"We have high expectations of ourselves and the tournament. The Western & Southern Open has a long, rich tradition, and we want to be a part of that for many years to come," she says.
