Video: Anti-bullying poem rises above "the hiding places pills can’t provide"

On its facebook page less than one day ago, Socialvest, a movement of shoppers who are giving back to causes they care about with their purchases, brought attention to the fact that April is Poetry Month. In honor of Poetry Month, they called on the public to watch a video of an animated poem by one of their favorite poets.

The video of this poem is located near the bottom left of this article. You will see bullying like you've never seen it before. Whether you were bullied or the one doing the bullying, your perspective on the topic will be impacted.

Spoken word performer Shane Koyczan was bullied as a child and expresses his experiences into powerful poetry read aloud to a moving, animated video. On Wired.com, Laura Grace Weldon writes that Koyczan's animated poem about being bullied or bullying, "...rises above the bruises left by words and the hiding places pills can’t provide, all the way up to a place of beauty." On Mashable.com, Neha Prakash writes that the video, "...is haunting and beautiful, powerful and startling, sad and relatable, " and adds that, "...above all, the video and poetry will reshape your views on name calling, harassment and pain, encouraging you to confront and end the cycle of hatred and bullying kids face."

The video was a collaborative volunteer effort and is both a start and a must-see for anyone who cares about societal health or who has children and wants to end the cycle of bullying. For more information see: http://tothisdayproject.com/
