The Powerball winning numbers results for the Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 drawing in the latest lottery jackpot will be worth an estimated $116 million before taxes. The latest drawing for Powerball will be televised locally in Roanoke on CBS affiliate station WDBJ 7 on Wednesday night, with the possibility that one or more winners could become instant millionaires.
Update: The Aug. 28 Powerball winning numbers are 6, 7, 9, 19, 32 and a Powerball of 13.
An Aug. 26 report via NJ.com reported about one of final winners to come forward in the huge Powerball jackpot of $411 million. That drawing saw three tickets match the winning numbers exactly, with two sold in the state of New Jersey, and the other sold in Minnesota. The first winner was bought by a group of 16 vehicle maintenance employees dubbed "Ocean's 16" who worked for an Ocean County, NJ business.
The other winning ticket was claimed by a Minnesota lottery player, but the most recently-announced winner was Mario Scarnici of South Brunswick, NJ. Reportedly, the man from the Monmouth Junction of the area elected to receive a lump sum payment of $62 million. It's also been reported that he already gave some of his winnings to his two grown sons.
The executive director of the Lottery Carole Hedinger, extended congratulations to the Scarnici family personally, telling the media in a statement:
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is to meet the lottery winners. Most of whom are hardworking, average people. Their lives are then dramatically changed by the win removing any burden of debt from their lives. On behalf of the Lottery, I wish the Scarnici Family well.”
For Wednesday night, more winners could join those who took home millions in that $411 million jackpot. The latest Powerball winning numbers will be announced via a televised drawing. These drawings are shown twice weekly, with the other drawing on Saturday evening. Both drawings are shown locally in Roanoke during CBS affiliate WDBJ 7's first commercial break of the 11 p.m. newscast.
