The Powerball winning numbers results for Sept. 14, 2013 will have a jackpot drawing worth an estimate $317 million before taxes. The latest grand prize amount will go to any individual(s) holding a ticket with all five white ball numbers and the red Powerball matching exactly. The drawing will be televised around the country after 11 p.m. Eastern Time. Local Roanoke TV viewers will be able to watch on local CBS affiliate WDBJ 7 to see if they have the winning numbers.
9/14 Winning Numbers Update: Saturday's Powerball numbers are 1-17-25-37-44 and Powerball 20
A Sept. 14 report via Newsday indicates that there were tickets in this past Wednesday's Powerball drawing that yielded their winners cash prizes of $1 million and $2 million, for the Match 5, and Match 5 with "Power Play" option played. Those tickets were from New York, Georgia, Indiana, Maine and Nebraska. In all, there were $14,638,076 in "secondary prizes" in the previous jackpot, but no grand prize winners matching the numbers 11-19-33-42-54 and Powerball of 33.
That means the jackpot has risen, and it will be worth a cash payment of $176.3 million before taxes, if there's a single winner, and they opt for the lump sum payment option. Another option is to take annuity payments over several years, which would be more money, but it will take much longer for the payouts to be received.
Powerball tickets are sold in numerous states around the country including Virginia. Tickets generally cost $1 with a "Power Play" option costing $1 extra. Drawings are held twice weekly, with one drawing on Wednesday night, and the other on Saturday night. Roanoke viewers can see the pre-recorded winning numbers drawing during CBS affiliate WDBJ 7's 11 p.m. newscast's first commercial break.
