A $10,000 winning ticket was purchased in Middlesex County at Avenel Supermarket, 1008 Rahway Ave., in Avenel, New Jersey, for the Saturday, Sept. 28 drawing.
The New Jersey Powerball winner matched four out of five white Powerball winning numbers, AND the red Powerball number for the third-tier prize. Had the New Jersey lottery winner purchased a Power Play ticket for an extra dollar, he or she would have had their prize winnings instantly increased to $40,000 instead of the standard $10,000 prize.
