Meanwhile, Rhode Island Lottery announced that there were two $10,000 winning Powerball tickets cashed in. Both tickets matched four out of five white Powerball winning numbers, AND the red Powerball number for the third-tier prize for a standard payout of $10,000.
One of the lucky $10,000 Powerball winning tickets was purchased at Stop & Shop, 90 Frenchtown Rd., in North Kingstown, Rhode Island for the Sept. 25 drawing. The other $10,000 Powerball winning ticket was purchased from Cumberland Farms, 704 Main St., in West Warwick, Rhode Island for the Oct. 2 drawing.
Neither Rhode Island Powerball winner purchased the Power Play option for an additional dollar. If the winners had, both prizes would have automatically increased to $40,000.
What Time is the Oct. 5 Powerball Drawing?
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013. The Powerball game is played in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Powerball winning numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Tickets cost $2 each.
If no one matches all six Powerball numbers Saturday, Oct. 5, the estimated Powerball jackpot could easily reach $100 million or more by the time the next drawing rolls around on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
