The Wednesday, Jan 1 Powerball drawing is only the second drawing since one Missouri Powerball winner hit the monstrous $71.5 million jackpot on Christmas Day. The Jan. 1 jackpot has grown just $10 million since they drew the last Powerball numbers. Can someone else win the lottery again this holiday?

BREAKING NEWS: The Powerball winning numbers for January 1, 2014 are 15, 24, 40, 48, 52, and the red Powerball number is 23.

If no one wins the New Year's Day Powerball jackpot, the next grand prize may reach $60 million, or perhaps even $70 million by the time the next drawing rolls around.

New Jersey Powerball Winners Hit Big Money

Meanwhile, New Jersey Lottery's Executive Director Carole Hedinger announced Monday, Dec. 30, that 16,133 New Jersey players took home an estimated $90,124 in prizes ranging from $4 to $200. Hedinger commented,

"Congratulations to these fortunate lottery players who purchased the winning tickets. These lucky players now join the growing ranks of New Jersey Powerball winners."

What Time is the Powerball Drawing?

The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2014 at 10:59 p.m. EST. Wednesday's estimated jackpot is $50 million annuity, or $27.7 million one time cash-value payment. The Powerball winning numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 10:59 p.m. EDT in Florida. The Powerball game is played in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.

What's the probability of winning the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, Jan. 1? Lottery officials say the overall odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510, meaning you are 251 times more likely to be hit by lightning! The odds of winning any prize is 1 in 31.85.
