Meanwhile, New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger announced on Thursday, Oct. 24, that in addition to the California Powerball lottery winner's gigantic $213.4 million jackpot win earlier this week, that another New Jersey Powerball millionaire was made as well. The $1 million lottery winner matched five out of six Powerball winning numbers, missing only the red Powerball number for the Oct. 23 drawing. Missing just one Powerball number kept this winner from sharing the $213.4 million Powerball jackpot with the California lottery winner!
New Jersey Lottery officials also reported there were two third-tier winners in the same drawing. One New Jersey Powerball Power Play winner won $40,000, and another Match 4 + 1 winner scored an additional $10,000. Both New Jersey lottery winners matched four out of five Powerball winning numbers, AND the red Powerball number. Hedinger commented,
"Congratulations to these fortunate lottery players who purchased the winning tickets and to the retailers that sold them. For selling the winning tickets, the retailers have become three more of the Lottery’s ‘lucky locations’ overnight."
