If you are having trouble sticking to a healthy lifestyle, try the power of 5! It's easy
to remember you have have fingers each one representing on of the many powers that will
lead you in a healthier glowing life.
1) Try to eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
Fruits and vegeatbles are high in anti-oxidants, water, and fiber. That means they are
good fuel for the body and will keep you full. They are low in calories and can be added
to every meal easily. Add veggies to your eggs and fruit for dessert.
2) Try to eat 5 small meals a day.
Keeping your body fueled throughout the day will not only provide you with abundant
energy but if you keep the meals between 300-500 calories alternating, you may find you
will lose a few pounds too. Too often we gorge ourselves at the late meal in the day and
skip breakfast. By eating five meals you keep your metabolic rate moving and taste-buds
happy.
3) Engage 5 of your family or friends.
Tell five of your closet family or friends that you are trying some new habits and invite
them to join you. Either through a phone call, text, email or in person -- you can all
help one another to live better lives.
4) Try 5,000 steps a day.
Walking is a great form of exercise and a simple pedometer or iphone application can help
you see if you are meeting this minimal amount of heart pumping, blood circulating, skin
toning, exercise. Think of this as food for your heart!
5) Practice 5 days a week.
Life happens! So allowing yourself the five day rule can take away guilt and help with
your successes. If you get in all seven days- think of it as a bonus!
