Powder dumps at Utah ski resorts in February

If you've been following the whether lately, you've likely heard about the snow and ice storms ravaging the east coast and the deep south. But those storms had to come from somewhere and they left their mark on western ski resorts before moving east. Colorado wasn't the state that saw epic snowfall like the 116 inches that hit Monarch Mountain received in the last two weeks. Utah ski resorts received up to four feet of snow just in time for a weekend full of powder skiing.

Utah, which boasts it has "The Greatest Snow on Earth®" and goes so far as to print the slogan on its license plates, certainly delivered in the powder department from Feb. 7-10. Six ski regions in the state received more than two feet of snow, with one of those regions getting absolutely hammered with more than four feet of snow. Check out these snow totals:

  • Far Northern Wasatch (Beaver Mountain): More than 4 feet
  • North Wasatch (Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Wolf Mountain): 24-40 inches
  • Little Cottonwood (Alta and Snowbird): 32 inches
  • Big Cottonwood (Brighton and Solitude): 36-46 inches
  • Park City (Canyons, Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort): 28-38 inches
  • Sundance: 40 inches

With President's Weekend approaching, a busy weekend for ski resorts and ski travelers, the powder couldn't have come at a better time. Talk about taking out the powder skis--and maybe shopping for a snorkel. Stay in the know on Utah's powder dumps with this snow report.
