Local punks Pounders, debuted a brand new single today. The San Jose trio assaulted the music blogosphere with their latest effort, "Separate Ways." The track comes off the band's 4th, yet-to-be-named full-length due out later this summer. The song premiered today on Purevolume.com and has an admittedly different flavor for the three-piece - drawing more from the new wave, reggae rock sounds of 80s bands, like The Police and The Cure.
Serendipitously, the track comes as Pounder enter the local Battle of the Block competition; a Battle of the Bands soiree that celebrates the robust offering of San Jose's downtown music - past and present. For more, see the "Related Articles" section at the bottom of this page.
Also, as last year's first place winner of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Battle of the Band's, the act will be performing on the Boardwalk on April 18th, from 6:30 to 7:30. Last year's competition also earned them the honor of having their song, "Chasing The Sun," used for the SCBB commercial (see related video).
Things are undoubtedly popping for the trio. And if you're not familiar with Pounders, there's no time like the present to get acquainted.
