Calling all inner rock stars...Longmont is the place to POUND! Created by two female drummers, the POUND workout is a full-body cardio jam session combining light resistance with continuous, simulated drumming. In a 45-minute session, you'll experience a fusion of cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses, and burn 600-900 calories per hour while rocking out to great music! The fun and energizing atmosphere are draw enough, but you're also strengthening and sculpting muscles, moving and drumming your way to a slimmer, leaner physique. Who can resist?

So, POUND is undeniably cool, as well as incredibly fun. Here's an equally cool tidbit to add to Longmont's long list of awesomeness...our own Fusion Fitness on Main was the very first POUND venue in all of Colorado!

"I love teaching POUND!" says Erika Scamehorn, Owner/Instructor at Fusion Fitness. "The dynamic in a POUND class is different than any other class I teach. We have fun, loud music with disco lights and bright green Ripstix, what could be better than that?" Erika notices how clients always seem to have a weight lifted off of their shoulders at the end of class. "I would probably attribute that to getting to hit a mat as hard as you can," she says. "It allows for a release of tension and frustration that I think is only available elsewhere in a true kickboxing class with sand bags. The actual workout is great too! You use muscles that don't get worked very often or even at all."

Erika advises to be prepared, when new to POUND, you'll be feeling the work 2 to 3 days after a session. It targets places like the love handles, inner thighs, upper thighs, and glutes. Great for men and women, it's also highly modifiable, so all fitness levels are welcome to attend. "I, myself, am 21 weeks pregnant and I am still able to teach 3 POUND classes a week with some modification," Erika says. "Anyone can do it!"

Ready to get your POUND on?
Fusion Fitness has POUND classes Monday & Wednesday at 9:30-10:30am; Tuesday & Thursday at 6:30-7:30pm; and a team-taught class on Sunday at 1:00-2:00 pm. Cost is $10 for drop-in. POUND punch cards are also available for 10 classes that costs $80.
