Potty training can be a long and difficult road if you don't do it right the first time. You may end up with many stained rugs and stinky messes to clean up, daily. No one likes to clean up after their pet, so make sure to put the effort into training your puppy right the first time.
1. If the pup starts to go inside, pick them up and run them outside immediately.
2. Give going to the bathroom a key word or phrase like "Good pee pee." You may feel silly saying it, but it will help the dog know when to pee on command.
3. Clean up stains with the right products. If it smells like it's ok to go to the bathroom someplace, the pup will take it as an invitation. Make sure all evidence of the last mistake is gone.
