On Monday evening March 3, 2014 the Mount Sinai Fire Department & Suffolk County Police Department were notified of a motor vehicle accident with an overturn of 1 car and entrapment of 2 victims. Upon Arrival of Mount Sinai Fire Department Chief, he requested his heavy rescue truck to deploy two rescue tools to extricate 1 of the 2 drivers that was still trapped in the car. The chief was concerned with the collapsed roof on the victim. Suffolk County Police Department with assistance from Mount Sinai Fire Department shutdown traffic in both directions eastbound & westbound starting at Westgate Dr. Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded with 2 chiefs, 1 paramedic and 2 ambulances. They requested 1 additional ambulance from Miller Place Fire Department. The 2 victims were successfully extricated and both transported with undisclosed injuries to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
