Potential weather headaches for Christmas 2013

Another disturbance scooting across southern Canada will drag a cold front across the Great Lakes Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Ahead of the front, light snow showers develop Tuesday night into Christmas morning. Total snowfall on Christmas day should range from 1 to 4 inches. With a breeze from the southwest there will be some lake enhancement with higher accumulations near the lakeshore in Mason and Oceana counties.

The wind will become a bit gusty on Wednesday afternoon. Normally this would not be much of a problem but with the accumulated ice on trees and power lines additional power outages are possible.

Temperatures remain in the teens with wind chill readings in the single numbers for most of West Michigan on Tuesday, if you have any final holiday preparations.

It will be a bit warmer on Christmas day with highs in the mid and upper 20s. With the gusty wind, wind chill readings will likely dip below 0° for Christmas morning.
