Potatoes have gotten a bad rap the last few years. The celebrity personal trainer, Heidi Powell posted on her personal blog on October 15, 2013, against what Atkins diet tells us, potatoes are good for us. Heidi encourages her readers to eat more potatoes, as long as it is not fried potatoes.
Potatoes are full of vitamins, after all it is a vegetable. They contain, in only one small potato, nearly half the vitamin C needed for the whole day. Potatoes, also contain more potassium than a banana, and are loaded with vitamin B-6. Potatoes contain fiber and a healthy amount of carbohydrates, provided it is a baked or cooked potato and not fried.
Potatoes are a much better option to get the daily need for carbohydrates than bread or pasta. Potatoes, have gotten a bad reputation due to all the low carb diets circulating. Everyone needs to eat some carbs, at least 30% of their daily calories. Enjoy your potatoes, baked, cooked or raw, and reel in the health benefits of the amazing, wonderful potato.
