Poster at DNC convention calls Barack Obama 'prophesy fulfilled'

A poster being sold at the Democratic National Convention calls Barack Obama "prophesy fulfilled," Todd Starnes reported at Fox News on Tuesday.

The poster features the President praying with the headline: "Prophesy Fulfilled."

Below that is a photo of an open Bible with "Barak" highlighted in several places.

“Barak is of Hebrew origin and its meaning is ‘flash of lightning,'” Starnes says the poster explains, "referencing a passage in the Old Testament book of Judges."

According to the poster, "Hussein" means “good and handsome.”

“So you see, Barak was destined to be a good and handsome man that would rise like a flash of lightning to win victory in a battle against overwhelming odds,” the poster adds.

According to Starnes, the poster is being sold outside the security zones of the convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has not been sanctioned by the Democratic Party.

A search at Blue Letter Bible shows that the name "Barak" does appear in the book of Judges, and means "lightning" or "lightning flash."

The site also explains that Barak was the "son of Abinoam of Kedesh who, incited by Deborah, a prophetess of Ephraim, delivered the Israelites from the yoke of Jabin by routing the Canaanites in the plain of Jezreel."

A search for "Hussein" returned no results.

On Tuesday, we reported that a souvenir calendar appeared to compare Obama with Jesus Christ, and Starnes wrote that a photograph of the convention stage design reveals what looks like a stained glass window similar to what might be found in a church or cathedral.

"It’s unclear what the imagery will be used for," Starnes wrote.

Starnes said the attempt to deify Obama has some evangelicals steaming.

“If Barack Obama is the promised Messiah, I think there are going to be many Christians who are profoundly disappointed,” said Robert Jeffress, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

“One only has to look at Obama’s record to understand that he is absolutely, positively not the promised One,” he told Fox News.

This is not the first time liberals have tried to elevate Obama to the status of a deity.

In November 2010, a Newsweek cover dubbed him "god of all things," and the magazine used religious imagery to portray Obama as the "first gay president."

During the 2008 election, Obama's campaign took on such a religious feel that ABC's Jake Tapper wrote:

It's as if Tom Daschle descended from on high saying, "Be not afraid; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: for there is born to you this day in the city of Chicago a Savior, who is Barack the Democrat."
