According to Monday's Fox 4 News, a puppy in Kansas City, Mo., is lucky to be alive after she was somehow burned with chemicals.

On Sunday, Unleashed Pet Rescue took in Bridget, and her litter mates, after finding a Craigslist ad which offered the pups for free...the ad indicated that the puppies had suffered abuse.

A day after the puppies were rescued, the rescue agency stated:

They were on an ad that a friend of the owner posted, saying they were being abused and needed rescue!!

Bridget was promptly rushed to VCA Mission Med Vet where she received an I.V. and was provided with a feeding tube.

The pup is believed to have been burned with something caustic - such as bleach. The injuries cover her face and extend into her mouth and down her esophagus.

On Monday, the pup underwent surgery; the rescue posted the following update on Facebook:

She made it through surgery and they removed the metal from her stomach.
She has a guarded prognosis and we are going to visit her in 2 hours when she is fully awake.

Exactly how Bridget was injured remains a mystery, but there are fears that her wounds are the result of intentional abuse.

According to the Fox 4 News publication, the police have been given information about the puppies' prior owner and there is an investigation underway.
