UPDATE 2/17/12: An arrest has been made in this case. Click here to read.
Youngstown, OH - It appears there may be a serial killer on the loose in Youngstown, and he's targeting puppies.
Two 6-7 week old German Shepherd puppies were bound and gagged with such tight intricate knots that the more the puppies attempted to move, the more they were strangled. They were dead for about 4-5 hours when they were found outside the WRTA bus station.
Mahoning County Deputy Dog Warden, Dave Nelson, states that this is one the worst animal abuse cases in the county. He said personally, it's one of the most disgusting things he's ever seen.
This is the second time this breed was targeted for this horrific abuse. Another puppy was found lying on a porch on South Lakeview Avenue, bound and gagged in the same way. The neighbor who found him notified police before the puppy succumbed to its injuries. It was treated and thankfully survived.
Surveillance tapes are being viewed in hopes of finding the person(s) responsible. They believe that this was done for amusement and torture to these poor babies, and they want to find and prosecute the criminals.
Anyone with information regarding these acts of violence is urged to contact Mahoning County Dog Warden's Office at (330) 740-2205.
Please share to help find and convict these individuals for animal cruelty before they have an opportunity to torture and kill more helpless, innocent puppies.
