Yes, the Oakland Raiders had another losing season, 10 in a row, and now the team needs major repairs. Not only are the Raiders going to repair their coaching staff, the team also needs some players as well.
Bleacher Report web page reported that the Raiders could make five big moves for improvement during the free agency period.
One move suggested was to re-sign linebacker Phillip Wheeler. This last season Wheeler got 109 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. He was the best defender in the Raider defensive squad. Re-signing him would keep the defense fortified.
The second suggestion was to sign offensive tackle William Beatty from the New York Giants. Beatty is a free agent and is very affordable. He would be a good replacement for Khalif Barnes who was a disappointment for the Raiders this season by not giving Carson Palmer good coverage.
Suggestion three was to sign wide receiver Mike Wallace from the Pittsburg Steelers. Wallace was not all that this season, but he is still one of the best. If the Raiders can get him for a decent price, Wallace would be a good connection for Carson Palmer.
The fourth suggestion was to re-sign tight end Brandon Myers. Myers was the best offensive player for the Raiders this last season. He caught for 806 yards, more than any receiver on the team. This tight end, shining this early in his career, would be a bad move to let him go.
And last, dump defensive tackle Richard Seymour. He is considered to be over paid to practically sit in the sidelines with injuries. This last season he was side-lined for two months for a hamstring injury.
These are some big moves the Raiders could make during the free agency period. Let’s see what the team will do! Otherwise, Raider fans must wait until draft day to get excited.
