Hideo Kojima has provided some hints in regards to the gameplay direction the upcoming “Metal Gear Solid 5” will be heading towards. In an interview with Spong on Feb. 26, the game director revealed that the next numbered release of the “Metal Gear Solid” series will retain the trademarked stealth-focused gameplay. Players will still be experiencing the “excitement and tension” of sneaking through the opposition. You can check out some possible screens of the sequel in the slideshow at the top of this article and the comments from Hideo Kojima below (courtesy of Spong):
One thing I want to make clear is that Metal Gear Solid, will always be a stealth series. The core gameplay is feeling that excitement and tension that you feel as you sneak through a stage or environment and achieve your mission. That, to me, is the core of the series. And as far as the numbered titles in the series are concerned, they will always feature that type of gameplay.
“Metal Gear Solid 5” was teased with the debut trailer of “The Phantom Pain.” Several hints from the ambiguous video suggest that the new intellectual property is actually a cover-up for the fifth main numbered game.
Hideo Kojima is currently working on “Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes,” which takes place after the events of “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.” The game director previously stated that “Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes” would set up the events leading to “Metal Gear Solid 5.”
