With all the official spoiling going on as Gatecrash rumor season rolls along, there are bound to be some cards slipping through the cracks. So it is with Gruul Charm, according to this MTGSalvation.com rumor mill post, which is itself a reference to a post on MTGTheSource.com. Essentially, the claim is that the text seen above appeared suddenly and mysteriously in the StarCityGames.com mobile app, a fact which has been confirmed by multiple users of that app. No card picture is available, which is certainly a strike against its legitimacy, but at least it's for certain that the original poster didn't fake this using Photoshop.
Tuesday's StarCityGames spoiler may indeed be Gruul Charm, and, in theory, this could have been posted early by accident. On the other hand, there seem to be some discrepancies between this and other members of the guild charm cycle. Leaving all power level issues aside (although some have argued that this design is "too weak" to fit the cycle), all of the other charms have one effect that clearly fits in only one of its colors, one that fits in only the other, and a third that could be justified in either or both. The first mode of this one is clearly monored, but both of the other two seem to blur the lines; it's not clear whether the Brand/Brooding Saurian ability fits in red, green, or both in the modern color pie, while the damage-all-fliers one could fit in monogreen but seems to feel better as red-green multicolor simply because it's mass damage.
I'll reserve judgment on the card's effectiveness when I see confirmation on whether it's real or fake (although I'm leaning towards it being real, based on the evidence). Suffice it to say, though, MTGSalvation user ThisIsNotMyName put it very well by saying "It's three sideboard cards in one. It's one of those good cards that are very subtle about it."
Have evidence as to whether this is real or fake? Would you play this version of Gruul Charm or not? Let me know in the comments.
