Possible death sentence for accused Boston Marathon bomber

Millions of Americans watched in horror as one of Boston's most celebrated moments suddenly became a horrific blood bath.

Last year, Russian-born Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested, accused of building and setting the pressure cooker bomb which eventually went off, killing three people and wounding over 100 other people during last year's Boston Marathon.

Tsarnaev had apparently built the bomb and executed the attack with his brother, who was killed in a shootout with police before he could be arrested or charged. The two brothers had lived in the United States for about a decade.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found days after the bombing at the marathon, while hiding in a boat in a residential backyard just outside Boston. He has since pleaded not guilty.

Since the crime last year, outrage has continued over the crime, especially when the accused terrorist was put on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Many people have already called for the death penalty, even though no trial date has even been set yet.

Federal authorities, however, have seemingly answered those requests. Today, it was announced that the death penalty will be sought for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Although the state of Massachusetts no longer has a death penalty, federal authorities still have the right to ask for the death penalty, much like they did with Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, who was executed more than a decade ago.

Once Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's case does come to trial, it will be the highest-profile federal death penalty case since McVeigh's trial.

Do you think the death penalty is appropriate in this case?
