In Posen, a south suburb of Chicago, a man attacked his ex-girlfriend and fatally shot her boyfriend before he was shot and killed by police, according to a Saturday morning report in the Chicago Tribune.
Sherman T. Threets, 28, was the shooter who was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital shortly after midnight according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The man he killed – Tristan Hart – was pronounced dead at the scene near 144th and South Campbell Avenue. Illinois State Police are investigating the incident as it involved an officer in the shootings. Additionally, the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force is investigating.
The woman who survived the attack – though her condition is unknown – was taken to a local hospital. Her name was not released.
The deadly incident happened near 144th and South Campbell Avenue when the man’s ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend returned home. Law enforcement personnel responded to the incident from several suburban police departments. Another south suburban city’s police officer - a Blue Island police officer - was the one who shot and killed the offender.
