Powell’s City of Books is sure to be a popular place this coming Sunday when Portlandia creators and stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein stop by to sign copies of The Portlandia Activity Book at 12:00 PM.

Ms. Brownstein and Mr. Armisen authored the new book which was inspired by the hit show on IFC. Ads for the book claim that it “will expand your mind through participation, dehydrate you to a state of emotional rawness, and linger in the corners of your bare soul.”

Going on the principal that Portlandia is not just a place, but a state of mind, the book gives instructions on How to Crowdfund a Baby and Punk Paint By Numbers. It also has activities such as a bird stencil page and several coloring pages. The book gives instructions on how to write online reviews of businesses whether one has patronized the business or not.

The book ”Invites the reader to really participate. Even if they end up leaving it blank, they can do the activities in their minds. To me, that’s just as engaging, “said Mr. Armisen in an interview with the books publisher Timothy McSweeney.

Fred Armisen is a comedian and writer who is best known for his stint as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Carrie Brownstein is an actress, singer and guitarist for the band Wild Flag. The duo also authored Portlandia: a Guide for Visitors and contributed to The Portlandia Cookbook.

The Portland Authors Examiner recommends an early arrival.
