Portland writer Tom Spanbauer at Powell's Tuesday night.

Critically acclaimed novelist and Portland resident Tom Spanbauer will grace Powell’s City Of Books on Tuesday, April 1st at 7:30 PM to discuss his first novel in seven years, I Loved You More which tells the story of a love triangle between two men and one woman who are all writers.

Mr. Spanbauer is the author of five published novels and the founder of Dangerous Writing which is an ongoing weekly critique group that meets in Portland. He also teaches focused 3-5 day intensive workshops.

I loved You More has been praised by everyone from former mayor Sam Adams to Elissa Schappell, Vanity Fair’s literary critic. According to his website Mr. Spanbauer is a writer who “ has explored issues of race, of sexual identity, and how we make a family for ourselves.”

His other books include; Faraway Places, which is about a child witnessing the murder of a Native American woman, The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon, about a bisexual native American man whose mother was murdered when he was twelve, In The City Of Shy Hunters, which details the adventures of a small town gay man in Manhattan and Now Is The Hour, about an young man from Idaho discovering who he is in San Francisco.
