Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns combine for Twitter win

The NBA's Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns came together today, Wednesday, Dec 4, to collectively bash the Eastern Conference on Twitter, and the result was a major social media "win".

With the Eastern Conference currently having just two teams with a winning record above .500, The Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat, the conference has been taking some flack recently for its performance against Western Conference teams. In fact, in a recent USA Today "Power Rankings" of NBA teams, 13 of the top-15 teams were from the Western Conference.

To add some salt to the wound, the Western Conference leading Trail Blazers' (15-3) Social Media Manager jokingly asked if it was too late to join the east today. Not to be outdone, The Suns' social media team chimed in and asked the Blazers to keep the move on the down low, as they were interested in switching to the easier NBA conference as well.

The response got a deserved "well played" tweet back from the Blazers.

This is not the first time that brands on social media have teamed up with hilarious results. Last year, British companies, Tesco Mobile and Jaffa Cakes, engaged in a hilarious conversation with fans on Twitter. However, this appears to be the first time pro sports teams have combined to bash an entire conference.

It will be interesting to see if any Eastern Conference teams respond to the gauntlet thrown down by the west, but with the Eastern Conference leading Indiana Pacers (16-2) fresh off a 106-102 loss to the perpetrating Blazers of Portland, I wouldn't expect a response any time soon.
