At least one terminal at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport was evacuated Tuesday afternoon when police were called to investigate a suspicious package, The Associated Press reported Feb. 4.

A spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department said a ramp worker discovered a smoking bag on the tarmac of Terminal C shortly before noon Tuesday, the AP reported. The package, officials said, was not loaded onto the plane and has been taken to a remote location. Police are continuing to investigate.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the evacuation is continuing and many travelers have turned to social media to post photos and updates from outside Terminal C.

The flight involved – identified as Delta Flight 5208 – was preparing to depart for Richmand, Va. The airline’s website shows the flight – which was slated for takeoff at 10:25 a.m. – was still being held two hours later.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees operations at LaGuardia Airport, did not immediately return a call for comment.
