Actress Portia de Rossi has a new gig. According to Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, the “Arrested Development” star will join the ABC hit drama “Scandal” for its fourth season. The actress will be part of a multiple-episode arc that has been described as "top secret."

Ellen DeGeneres, de Rossi’s wife, first announced the news on Twitter. The daytime talk show queen took the time to brag about her wife’s “top secret” storyline. She tweeted, “So annoying when people brag on twitter & that’s why I’m not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on ‘Scandal.’ Oops.”

Fans of “Scandal” will have to speculate as to what character de Rossi will play and for how long. The 41-year-old actress and DeGeneres are fans of the show themselves; so appearing on episodes, apart of a “top secret” storyline will be exciting for de Rossi. DeGeneres talked about how much she and Portia loved the show on her talk show. She said in an April episode, “Portia and I watch every single week, and we’re always trying to figure out who the bad guy is.”

With de Rossi appearing in episodes, you can bet DeGeneres will be mentioning the show more on her Emmy-winning talk show. Whatever character de Rossi plays, it could be connected to the season 3 finale of the show that ended with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) flying off into the sunset with Jake (Scott Foley), leaving Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) behind. Olivia’s father took over B-613 and there is speculation that de Rossi’s character could be connected to his army. Viewers won’t find out until “Scandal” returns on September 25.

In the meantime, de Rossi has been dealing with her own personal scandal. Not only have there been constant rumors of a divorce from DeGeneres, and there has been a claim that she spent time in a rehab facility. Reportedly the celebrity couple has worked out any issues they were having and are both looking forward to de Rossi’s role on “Scandal.”
