According to a tweet sent out by Ellen DeGeneres early Wednesday, her wife, Portia de Rossi will join Scandal for Season 4. The Arrested Development star will be alongside the already hot cast of Scandal, led by Kerry Washington. Portia's role on the show is still unclear, but Ellen did hint at what it could be in her tweet saying:
"So annoying when people brag on twitter & that's why I'm not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on "Scandal". Oops."
Scandal returns Thursday, September 25 at 9 PM on ABC, but that won't stop fans from running speculation as to de Rossi's role. Some sources are saying that Portia could play a part in Papa Pope's army. It should make for an exciting start to the fall season for ABC. The season finale of Scandal was watched by 10.6 million people, which is a sixteen percent increase in viewership from last year's finale, according to Nielsen.
Portia is perhaps best known for her role as Nelle Porter on Ally McBeal. Recently, she starred in the television pilot Mockingbird Lane, which was a spin off of The Munsters. Portia married famed television star and daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in August of 2008. Ellen has high praises for her wife and often gives her little plugs, such as the above mentioned tweet. Are you excited for Portia's role on Scandal? What do you think her role holds for the show? Could de Rossi become a Scandal regular? Tune in to ABC at 9 PM September 25 to find out!
