Portal 2 video shows off new footage and new ways to do things

Would it be so easy if we could just jump into a portal, and find ourselves three months from now at the release of Valve’s latest creation Portal 2. Delaying its release two months to agonize and taunt all that enjoyed its predecessor’s enigmatic story, ingenious puzzles, and hopeful calls of cake has everyone and their best friend biting at the bit to get their hands on the stand-alone sequel.

Luckily for us, IGN.com and Valve were able to deliver some extended video footage, showing off some more of the new world that will be open to players in the second installment. Giving you a bigger look at what’s happened to Aperture Science while you’ve been gone, the world has gorwn up around you, ensaring the walls and floors in vines and growth. This we knew already, yet not to the extent of how bad the place really is now.

The video also talks a little more about the upgraded dialogue between one and two. Boasting nearly 13,000 lines of dialogue, this time around you’ll have more than GLaDOS whispering sweet death threats in your ear. With additional characters like Weatley - who follows you around and helps guide you – and other little surprises, the world won’t seem so cut and dry, or as bland as “solve puzzle, move on.”

But what about the co-op? The inclusion of bro-bots P-body and Atlas brings both new gameplay experiences and puzzles. Along with that however, Valve has taken the liberty to help give these two life, by including the ability for them to wave, laugh, pout, and otherwise interact with each other and their environment, giving them body and life. So if you’re helping your friend jump a gap and then suddenly move the portal, you may see your bot giggle uncontrollably, only to turn around and hug his respawned body.

The game is set to come out on April 19th, yet keep in mind that the video may contain some spoilers for more of the diehards that wish to stay pure before release.
