Port Washington man busted for public lewdness

Nassau County police arrested a Port Washington man on Monday and charged him with public lewdness relating to an incident that occurred in the Village of Kensington several months ago, a news release said.

Noor El Tahawy, 24, was driving along Arleigh Road on Sept. 21, 2012 around 8:17 a.m. and pulled up to a woman driving alongside him, cops said. He asked the 49-year-old woman for directions and then “pointed to his private parts and began performing a lewd act,” according to the news release. Detectives said that Tahawy then drove off from the scene.

Tahawy was arrested at his home around 11:44 p.m. on Monday after a description of the suspect was provided during an investigation by Third Squad detectives. Authorities said Tahawy admitted to detectives that he also committed a second lewd act the next day. That incident occurred on North Drive in Kensington at 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 21, police said.

Tahawy was charged with two counts of Public Lewdness and released on an appearance ticket. He is due in First District Court on Feb. 12 to address the allegations.
