Port Orange Police have arrested a suspect in the hold-up of a local bank Monday. Assistant Port Orange Police Chief Wayne M. Miller says 63-year old Michael N. London was arrested outside his home late Saturday afternoon. London was charged with Possession of a Hoax Bomb, Armed Robbery, Grand Theft and False Imprisonment. The Port Orange man was later transported from the Port Orange Police Department to the Volusia County Branch Jail and held on $40,000 bond.

Assistant Chief Miller says London was charged as a result of “…evidence recovered at the [bank robbery] scene…” by Port Orange Police Detectives.

Man in Santa costume robbed bank Monday
Police say a man dressed as Santa Claus walked into the Sun Trust bank at South Nova Road and Village Trail Monday afternoon, placed a wrapped package on the teller counter, and produced a note demanding money. Police said the man insinuated that the package was harmful, and since he left the package behind after the incident, the bank was cleared and secured after he left and the Volusia County Bomb Squad called in. The Bomb Squad later gave the all-clear after checking the package.
