Port O'Brien made a stop on their tour with Portugal the Man and The Dig, to headline a gig at North Star Bar on March 16th in Philadelphia.
Port O'Brien is an indie rock band out of San Francisco. Their new album Threadbare, delivers a meloncholy power which was channeled from the recent loss of founding member Cambria Goodwin's brother.
The lyrics give you the feeling you read the personal journal of someone trying to heal but in return the sound is melodic and upbeat. Somehow the combination works quite well.
The band did not disappoint and delivered a strong performance to an intimate crowd at the North Star Bar. The relaxed setting was fun and the band playfully engaged with their audience.
There was one epic fail these California boys made in the City of Brotherly Love-Vegetarian Cheese Steaks, and the cheese of choice? Mozzarella!! True Fact!
My picks for stand out songs of the evening:
My Will is Good
Fisherman's Son
