AMPD (Area Musicians Promoting Diversity) is an original music showcase concert series that features original Tampa Bay artists and bands. The goal of KAM-BABS Promotions is to help re-expose people to the great original music scene that is abundant in the Tampa Bay area. KAM-BABS Promotions plans on achieving this by periodically holding AMPD showcases in five Tampa Bay counties including Pinellas, Hillsborough, Paso, Bradenton & Sarasota counties.
Like the first AMPD Showcase that took place back in April of this year, “Fall Fling” will take place at the historic Porpoise Pub in Seminole. The event starts at 8:00pm and will feature live performances from 4Ever Endeavour, ZigZag America, and Selective Memory. The event will open with a special stand-up comedy routine and musical performance from WPRN 102.1 fm personality and War On Hollywood bassist, Craven Moorehead.
Born To Ride TV & Magazine will also be giving away free tickets to the Born To Ride Day of the Dead Jam which is taking place in Pinellas Park on Saturday and will feature performances by Paul Rodgers, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Foghat, Blackberry Smoke, Molly Hatchet, David Allan Coe, The Mojo Gurus, Soul Circus Cowboys, The Stone City, Bobby Lee Rodgers and The Sting Police.
About the bands:
4Ever Endeavour is made up of Troii Peak on lead vocals, Zach Zupan on guitar, Chris Stiles on bass, and Kei Alexander Bland on drums. The band was formed in May of this year after Troii Peak and Kei Alexander Bland parted ways with their former band, Sugar Phix. With the addition of Chris Stiles and Zach Zupan, the band has already proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in the past few months.
“At the end of the day, we want to give back via the music. We try to help people through our art. So many people have connected to our songs, and they have supported us unconditionally. We have fought through so much, and we never give up. We hope people get a positive message from our songs. It feels like we have a purpose, which is to put out hopeful music.” - 4Ever Endeavour
ZigZag America is made up of Jimmy Starr on lead vocals, Miki Tabakovic on guitar, Jake Schaffer on bass, and Bobby Walker on drums. Originally formed in 1993 by Jimmy Starr and Miki Tabakovic, it would take the group many years before they would find the right combination of musicians to get them the sound that their fans have become familiar with today. The band will be performing songs from their debut album, .COM, which was released in August of this year.
Selective Memory is a hard rock band with acoustic influences. Formed in 2008 by Jimmy Shelton and Tony Clark, the band consists of Shelton (vocals/guitar/keyboard), Clark (drums), Dan Mockensturm (lead guitar), and Eddie Rey (bass). Selective Memory’s original music is influenced by such bands as The Doobie Brothers, The Guess Who and Crosby Stills & Nash, but with a harder edge to them, more similar to bands such as Chevelle, Shinedown and Seether. Some of Selective Memory’s better known original songs include “The Key”, a song about the Jessica Lunsford and Carlie Brucia’s murders, and “Last Soldier’s Diary”, a fan favorite written about Hiroo Onoda, a Japanese Soldier who refused to believe World War II had ended.
Many may recognize Craven Moorehead as the sardonic, comical voice on WPRN 102.1 fm. What many may not realize is that before the twenty year hiatus from music that lead to Moorehead's involvement in radio, he was a Nashville studio session musician for many years, appearing on many recordings. In addition, Moorehead had played in several bands in the past, and is the current bass player for the Tampa Bay hard rock band, War On Hollywood.
The AMPD "Fall Fling" event is sponsored by Born to Ride TV & Magazine, KAM Music Publishing, Bay Area Band Source, WPRN 102.1 fm's "Hangin' With The Hoff" Show, the Tampa Bay Music Scene Historical Society, the Tampa Bay Music Hall of Fame, the Florida Musicians Hall of Fame, and the St. Petersburg Live Music Bar Scene Column.
