Pornography charges jail California man

A 52-year-old Ceres man was arrested Friday morning for possession of child pornography, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department announced Friday in an emailed news release.

Agents from the Sacramento Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and detectives with the sheriff's department raided the home of George Pires at 730 a.m., the department said.

"The investigation started after sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call in the 1700 Block of East Service Road in Ceres in October of 2012," according to the sheriff's department statement. "Deputies received information that the resident, Pires, possessed child pornography. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and seized photographs and several computers. Computer forensic analysis located more than 100,000 images of child pornography on the computers."

When detectives discovered they had 100,000 pornographic photos, the department contacted the FBI for help, according to the statement.

"A joint investigation with the FBI was conducted and the FBI arrested Pires for federal charges of alleged possession and manufacture of child pornography," the department said.

Investigation into the case is continuing, with sheriff’s detectives looking for potential victims of child molestation.

"If you know any victims or can provide information regarding this investigation, please contact Detective Megan Brazil at 209-525-7082," the department appealed. "You can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636; e-mail tips to http://www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers; or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing 'Tip704' plus the message. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward."
