A former porn star turned teacher lost her appeal to get her teaching job back after students and faculty discovered her in porn related movies and pictures her lawyer announced on Jan. 15, 2013, she had been on administrative leave since March.
As reported in FOX News, Stacie Halas, 32, was a science teacher at the Haydock Intermediate School in California, prior to being a teacher Halas was making pornographic movies for nine months, but did not disclose any of that information until it surfaced. Halas’s lawyer, Richard Schwab stated his client tried to be honest but was embarrassed by her past. “
“Miss Halas is more than just an individual fighting for her job as a teacher," he said Tuesday. "I think she's representative of a lot of people who may have a past that may not involve anything illegal or anything that hurts anybody."
A three judge panel unanimously disagreed with Schwab’s argument, in a 46 page decision Judge Julie Cabos-Owen wrote that "although her pornography career has concluded, the ongoing availability of her pornographic materials on the Internet will continue to impede her from being an effective teacher and respected colleague.” The decision also cited that Halas was deceitful about her career in porn before she went to work in the school.
Schwab has said she took the parts because of financial problems after her boyfriend abandoned her.
