The Church That Matters offered the first ever “Porn and Pizza” gathering on Feb. 2. They are hoping this event will become an annual event. According to a report from KWTV Channel 9 News in Oklahoma City, the Sand Springs church is hoping this will help those with an addiction to porn.
The Church That Matters believes that porn addiction is becoming worse and that “Porn and Pizza” will help those who suffer from this addiction. It is an opportunity for porn addicts to come together and discuss their addiction. They believe that by offering those addicted to porn a place and opportunity to discuss their addiction will help them recover from it.
“...Satan really works in darkness and secrecy,” Pastor Rusty Gunn stated. “If we can get these things into the light, [Satan] loses power.”
“Porn ruined my marriage,” a mother of two who asked to be identified as “Abby” stated. “My husband wasn't able to be intimate with me without it. Because it was always there, I didn't feel any intimacy. I was having to share him with whoever was in the dirty movie he was watching.”
The keynote speaker of the “Porn and Pizza” gathering, Ben Sledge, said that 70 percent of men struggle with online pornography. He believes that porn re-wires the brains of men who watch, making intimacy with a real person difficult.
“Sex with my ex-husband wasn't normal,” Abby continued. “It was never spontaneous or personal. It became a production. I was barked orders as to what to do and when. I could never live up to what the women on screen were doing. When I didn't meet those standards, he filed for divorce.”
Pastor Gunn said Church That Matters had a great turn out for “Porn and Pizza.” He is hoping to make it an annual event, helping those with an addiction to porn.
