Popular frozen pancakes may contain undeclared allergen

On January 27, 2012 the Pinnacle Foods Group announced through the FDA that 6 of their Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes brands were being voluntarily recalled because they were indirectly exposed to soy, a common allergen. The frozen pancakes were exposed to the soy when they were processed on equipment that had previously been used to process products containing the allergen. Consumers with soy allergies or sensitivities, including those in the Glendale area, are advised to return the products to the store for a full refund.

The exact products being recalled are popular among Glendale parents looking for a healthier option to cold cereal to help get their kids going in the mornings.

The effected products are:

  • Description (Retail UPC Code)
  • Aunt Jemima Pancakes Buttermilk Low Fat 12/14.5oz (19600-05100)
  • Aunt Jemima Oatmeal Pancakes 12/14.8oz (19600-05490)
  • Aunt Jemima Pancakes Buttermilk 12/14.8oz (19600-05820)
  • Aunt Jemima Pancakes Homestyle 12/14.8oz (19600-05910)

Glendale area residents can also identify the products in question by the “Recommended Use By Date” located in a white box on the end of the carton. The effected rage is November 1, 2011 up to and including October 16, 2012.

It’s important to point out that there are no other problems reported with these products, and that those without allergies or sensitivities to soy have nothing to to worry about. Likewise, all other Aunt Jemima products manufactured by Pinnacle Foods Group LLC or Quaker Oats are okay. No other health concerns or recalls have been reported.

Glendale consumers who have questions are encouraged to call the Company at 1- 888-299-7646 daily between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
