On Wednesday, June 25, it was reported by Olivia Barrow of the Dayton Business Journal that a popular destination for wining and dining in Dayton is closing its doors for good. It is being reported that Jeff Van Horne, owner of the immensely popular The Wine Loft, located at 21 Greene Boulevard at The Greene in Beavercreek, has closed his business to spend more time with his family.
The Wine Loft has been a popular destination in the greater Dayton area for many years and was voted Best Cocktails, Best Place to Meet Singles and Most Romantic Restaurant while open. In addition to offering a top notch selection of wine, the restaurant also offered a wondrous selection of spirits, cocktails and beers that meshed seamlessly with a wide assortment of artisan cheeses, soups, salads, entrees and desserts.
Before Dayton area vinophiles begin crying into a bottle of their favorite vintage, there is hope on the horizon. Tim Rollins, of The Wine Bistro in Columbus, has announced plans to open CORK Wine and Dine in the same location that was home to The Wine Loft. If all goes as planned, the new restaurant will be opening in August of this year.
Please Note--Unfortunately, at this time, there is some confusion as to whether The Wine Loft is truly closed as reported by Barrow. The restaurant's website makes no mention of its closure, nor does its Twitter account. When calling the restaurant, the phone number listed is still in service but goes unanswered, instead going to a record message that offers the address and hours of operation for the establishment. Numerous attempts to verify the closing have gone unanswered and it can only be assumed that The Wine Loft, is indeed, closed for business.
