When thinking of fast food chains and fried chicken, often the first thought is a KFC restaurant. KFC is the most popular and well known fried chicken restaurant chain in the Twin Cities or at least it was a year ago. Therefore, it is important to know that the way most of us view chicken restaurants will soon change. This is because in November a bankruptcy judge approved the sale of 14 KFC outlets that were sold to Popeye's Chicken.
Popeye's has been in the Twin Cities for a number of years but has never received the popularity of KFC. In fact in the past, the presence of bricks and mortar of Popeye's was a rare sight. Today, KFC lovers in Minneapolis who never understood why other people preferred eating at Popeye's--might consider trying--Popeye's.
40 years ago this New Orleans style restaurant was born and developed in Atlanta. Now there will be 14 new Popeye's Chicken restaurants open in the Metropolitan area.
The photo images provided for this article were taken at a Twin Cities location that was once a KFC. The KFC sign was removed, the outside of the building has been painted, a dumpster is visible, and there are several boxes stacked inside of the building. There were also two industrial size storage bins on the property.
For those who can't imagine eating Popeye's chicken and biscuits there are some who can't imagine ever eating KFC again. Some might argue that there is no debate on which restaurant is better. This may also explain why Popeye's Chicken locations are expanding.
