Pope Benedict XVI was knocked down Thursday during Christmas Mass in the Vatican City. A woman in red jumped out of the pew, and pulled on the Pope’s robe until he fell to the ground. It took several security guards to get her away from him and she was labeled unstable.
The incident occurred during midnight mass (at 10 pm) Christmas Eve. The woman in red was arrested and is being held without bail.
In the first video below, you can see from a distance the woman in red and the security guards tackling her. In the second video, you can see the crowd’s reaction to what happened; people actually appear fearful that he may not get back up, but they cheer when he does.
The 'net buzz on this story is hot because it just happened today, and people around the world want to know what happened and if the Pope is ok.
