Birds appear to be the current theme of the Vatican as of late. On Wednesday Pope Francis blessed a parrot that belongs to a former male stripper turned erotic film actor, only three days after the white doves were attacked at theVatican according to an ABC News report.
Since his election as the 266th successor to Saint Peter, the 77-year-old Pontiff has vowed to uphold his position and follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, holding no judgment against gays, being a staunch advocate for the poor and dining with the homeless. And now Pope Francis has extended his gentle hand to the pet of a former male stripper turned erotic film actor, which the Holy Father was undoubtedly unaware of as he blessed the bird.
ABC reported Francesco Lombardi owns the parrot, whose name is Amore. At first Pope Francis ignored the pet as he toured his General Audience in Saint Peter’s Square in the pope-mobile, but then he returned to bless the bird. Amore then mimicked the multitudes as they chanted “Papa.” Lombardi attended the gathering with his wife and two daughters.
On Friday Pope Francis continued to address the controversy of the Vatican bank, and appointed a new president of the Vatican’s Financial Information Authority, which was established by Pope Benedict in 2010 to thwart money laundering.
