It’s all over the news that Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to step down from serving as “The Pope” of the Catholic Church. The Pope has chosen to relinquish his position as of February 28, 2013, due to his dwindling physical health.
There is no scandal involved in Pope Benedict’s stepping down, but the man acknowledged his declining physical maturity, which may be a hindrance to his decision making duties and his personal appearances, that the office of the Pope entails.
Pope Benedict XVI has served since 2005 as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, which is a large part of Christianity (Catholics are Christians too). There should be no condemnation to Pope Benedict’s decision, however, some people may continue in a position just because they desire to maintain the status that the position holds.
*Should the Pontiff have gone on until “Death does he part?” or should he retire as planned? Has he done what is right in the sight of God?*
