Popcorn recipe: Make your own microwave popcorn in a paper bag (Photos)

If you enjoy microwave popcorn, take a look at the nutritional information on the back of the package. Everyone thinks of popcorn as being healthy, but fails to see that the fat content of most of the microwave popcorn choices is very high. The fat is not natural to the popcorn, the fat and sodium has been added by the manufacturer. While you’re at it, look at how many servings are in one bag – usually more than one. You have a much healthier choice: make your own in a paper bag! It’s so easy to do and, better yet, it tastes so much better.

Take a look at the ingredients in microwave popcorn – yes, they vary from brand to brand – but many have artificial color (to make it yellow, so it looks like butter) and flavors, plus hydrogenated soybean oil? No wonder it needs artificial color – no real butter comes near it. It’s a little scary!

Popcorn is high in fiber and even has a little protein. It really is a healthy snack choice. Make it yourself in the microwave using a paper bag and you eliminate any oil. It’s such an easy and healthy choice.
