This Thursday marks the third month for Pop-Up Art Loop First Thursdays Gallery Walk.  Empty downtown storefronts are transformed into temporary art exhibitions, and you can take a free, self-guided, walking tour that will introduce you to many of Chicago’s visual artists. This event occurs on the first Thursday of every month from 5-8pm through October. (Temporary art galleries have also been set up downtown; for more information about these galleries, read to the end of this article.)

Here are the locations for this week’s Pop-Up Art Loop First Thursdays Gallery Walk:

23 East Madison, Exhibition & Studio Space
Glass & Architectural Sculpture by Kip Pasta & Michelle Rial

29 East Madison, Chicago Photography Collective
Chicago Eats, Curated by Patty Carroll & Eric Futran

208 South Wabash
Work by Angela Garbot & Kate Friedman

220 South Wabash

By Jonah Ortiz

240 South State

This collaboration between the Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC) and the Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA) has produced not only Pop-Up Art Loop First Thursdays Gallery Walk, but also temporary (pop-up) galleries in several downtown locations. The space is made available free of charge to the artists and gives the public an opportunity to get to know some of Chicago’s artists working in photography, sculpture, 2D art, video and new media, and more. These temporary galleries are free to the public and open Monday through Saturday from 11:30am-5:30pm (closed on Sunday). You can find these galleries at: 23 E. Madison, 29 E. Madison, 17 E. Monroe (Palmer House), 18 S. Wabash, 22 S. Wabash, 28 S. Wabash, 208 S. Wabash, 163 N. Dearborn, 202 S. State, 324 N. Michigan, and 310 S. Michigan.
